Internet Pharmacy Policy

Ponemah Veterinary Hospital is not able to prescribe medications through unlicensed pharmacies, including any unlicensed Internet pharmacy. We have established this policy to safeguard your pet and to insure that you receive only the correct, quality-assured medication that we have prescribed for your pet.

Some Internet sites have been prosecuted for selling misbranded medications not approved by the FDA or for buying medications from foreign countries and repackaging and selling them as licensed drugs from the United States, which they are not.  There have also been concerns regarding improper storage of vaccines and medications at temperatures too high or too low which could damage the products.

Due to the hazards associated with improper manufacturing and storage of pharmaceuticals and the lack of guarantee from most manufacturers for products purchased from internet pharmacies, we are unable to fax or call in any prescriptions to online pharmacies.  We will be happy to provide you with any needed written prescriptions.

In establishing this policy, our goal is to make it convenient, safe and economical to obtain your pet's medication and to prevent risks to your pet's health from the purchase of questionable or substandard medication.   If we prescribe a medication that is not available locally, we will find a source that will provide you with quality, reliable medications.  If you need the medication mailed to your home, we can arrange for that service either from a local pharmacy, from our hospital directly, or through VetCentric.

 
                                                          
We have chosen to use VetCentric as our affiliate internet pharmacy because we know them to be licensed, safe, reliable, and legitimate.  VetCentic partners with animal health companies to acquire their products through known, valid sources.  Many heartworm products are backed by manufacturer guarantees that they will not only prevent heartworm but intestinal parasites as well.  If an animal is diagnosed with parasites while on their product, companies will often pay for the treament.  However, if these products are obtained through unlicensed internet pharmacies, these guarantees are null and void.
