Learn more about the new Home Again Active Pet Recovery Program!

A Microchip is a tiny metal chip that is inserted under the skin on your pets' back.   The chip is safe and the insertion is a painless procedure, not much different than a vaccination.  However, for convenience, we can implant the chip while your pet is under anesthesia for spay, neuter, or dentistry. The new Home Again recovery program is analagous to an Amber Alert for children.  With traditional microchip programs, a pet owner would wait and hope that someone found the pet, scanned him/her, and called Home Again.

With the new program, Home Again will put out a notice to all shelters, veterinarians, other animal service workers, and participating pet owners within a 25 mile radius of where the pet was lost.  If you are traveling with your pet, you are equally protected if your pet were to get lost.  They will send a description and photos, and describe when and from where the pet was lost and they provide tools to help you make pet lost posters.  They will also relay any pertinent medical information that may be critical if the pet were found, especially if he/she is injured.  (example: the pet has heart disease or is diabetic)

If your pet is found, a scanner will find the microchip and reveal a number.  This number will be traced back to your name, address, and phone number so your pet may be safely returned to you.  It is important to always keep your registration with Home Again current so that you may be contacted if needed.

Pets that have already been microchipped whether with a Home Again chip or one from another company may be enrolled in the Pet Recovery program.  Ask us and we will assist you with the registration process.

There is nothing as horrible as having a loved one get lost.  With this program you will be empowered and know that you are doing everything you can to help achieve a safe return home.
